In a context where companies are required to combat climate change by reducing their carbon footprint by 2050, the Adecco Group is formalizing, as one of the pillars of its CSR strategy, a French policy of "Carbon Zero" environmental performance by 2021.
Promoting sustainable mobility was quickly identified as an essential lever. Firstly, to drastically reduce the Group's carbon footprint, given that 50% of greenhouse gas emissions are generated by permanent employee vehicles. But also to boost the attractiveness of the Group's talent pool, and preserve employees' purchasing power in the face of fuel price inflation.
Addressing this environmental issue is a challenge in the Group's implementation. Many of Adecco's sites are located in the provinces, making them less accessible than major cities. The Group is therefore considering a multimodal strategy that will support all its employees while enabling it to achieve its CSR objectives.
"We wanted to simplify our approach as much as possible, with flexibility so that each employee could choose his or her own means of travel and combine it according to his or her wishes."
If commuting to and from work is one of the key areas of focus, how can we offer our employees a degree of flexibility in the way they travel? The Mobilités Durables package is a first step in this direction. It enables employers to offer tax-exempt compensation to employees who choose environmentally-friendly modes of transport to get to and from work.
The Adecco Groupe therefore needs a solution that offers both transport reimbursement and the use of soft mobility. Greening the car fleet is also one of the objectives: for certain employees who cannot totally give up their vehicle, offering a mobility credit remains a fair alternative.
Worklife was chosen for its ability to finance several benefits at the same time. Each permanent employee is provided with a single payment card, and a mobile application to keep track of the annual envelope made available by his or her employer. For the administrator, management is centralized in a single interface for ease of use and control.
Several project stages enabled us to get users on board with these new uses. Internal communication and alignment with HR teams ensured adoption by employees. Depending on their place of residence, they can benefit from the sustainable mobility package and the mobility credit.
The environmental impact of employee benefits serves the Group's CSR strategy, with measurable long-term results. It also offers prospects for other types of employee, such as temporary workers, to offer the same benefits and harmonize practices.
