Frequently asked questions

The Mobility Credit is a system associated with the allocation of company and statutory vehicles in companies. When it is set up, employees eligible for these vehicles can decide to give up some or all of their vehicles. In compensation, they obtain a benefit in kind, called Mobility Credit, which replaces their former vehicle.

It is the cost of the old vehicle that is replaced, allowing the employee to finance his or her home-work trips with much more flexibility. The Mobility Credit is therefore a benefit in kind that offers the employee the choice to vary the means of transportation according to their daily needs. They can choose to take public transport, pay for train tickets, buy an electric bike, carpool, etc.

To remember : The Mobility Credit is only valid in the case of a company or statutory vehicle. Employees with company cars are therefore not eligible for this benefit in kind.

When a vehicle is assigned to an employee, it is assigned a value, known as the TCO (Total Cost Ownership) value. The amount of the Mobility Credit is calculated according to the TCO value of the said vehicle. It is then the cost of this vehicle that is replaced:

1. In case of total renunciation, the amount of the Mobility Credit, corresponding to the TCO value of the old vehicle.

2. In case of partial renunciation, the amount of the Mobility Credit, corresponding to the difference between the TCO value of the old vehicle and the new vehicle chosen (often smaller and/or less polluting).

There are two main cases of employee use of the Mobility Credit:

1. The employee wishes to completely part with his company (or statutory) vehicle because he has no use for it. He is then allocated a budget envelope, corresponding to his new Mobility Credit, the amount of which is equivalent to the TCO value of the old vehicle for which he was eligible.

2. The employee wishes to replace his old vehicle with a new one of lower range and more in line with his needs. This is most often a smaller and/or less polluting vehicle. In this case, the employee is also allocated a budget envelope, corresponding to his or her Mobility Credit, the amount of which is equal to the difference in TCO value between his or her old vehicle and the new vehicle chosen.

In both cases, employees can use their Crédit Mobilité advantage as they wish, for both business and personal travel.

The Mobility Credit has many advantages both for the company and for the employees.

The advantages of Crédit Mobilité for the company:

- Optimize its car fleet by reducing the number of loaned vehicles,
- Reduce its carbon footprint by choosing to equip employees with less polluting vehicles,
- Enhance its employer brand thanks to a flexible mobility policy that is as close as possible to employee needs.

The advantages of Crédit Mobilité for employees:

- Benefit from an innovative and 100% flexible mobility policy,
- Be able to combine several modes of mobility according to their desires, values and daily needs,
- Gain purchasing power,
- Reduce the stress linked to daily car journeys (parking, traffic jams, etc.)

As of January 1, 2020 and as part of the company Mobility Plan (PDM), the implementation of Crédit Mobilité is compulsory for companies with more than 50 employees on the same site.

Through this initiative, the French government aims to encourage the use of more environmentally-friendly forms of mobility, notably by reducing the number of cars in companies' fleets. It is also within this framework that the Forfait Mobilités Durables has been set up.

These are financial measures designed both to encourage and facilitate the transition of employees who wish to move towards more environmentally-friendly modes of mobility, and also to avoid penalizing employees who are unable to change their mobility habits.
